Advair Diskus is a brand name for generic fluticasone and salmeterol. Those two components combined offer the adequate treatment for asthma and COPD, for both children and adults.
Advair Discus is easy to use because it comes in a form of a preloaded container, with 60 blister packs inside. It is enough for a period of one month, since it is supposed to be taken twice a day, one inhalation each time. After the inhalation the patient must rinse his mouth with water and not swallow, but spit it out. Otherwise, some bacterial infection may come up in the mouth.
This medication relaxes the muscles and in this way clears the airways and makes breathing easier. It is not adequate for stopping the asthma attack which has already started, for this you will need an emergency inhaler. It can only be prescribed by the doctor in case the long term asthma medication cannot keep your asthma under control. Once your asthma symptoms are under control, the doctor may put you back on your previous medications.
